German Shingle Sets Up A Very Novel Adaptation

German mini-major Constantin Film has picked up the rights to “Schossgebete,” the raunchy best seller from star VJ turned author Charlotte Roche. The novel, the follow-up to Roche’s hit debut “Wetlands,” tells the story of a sexually adventurous young woman who is trying to be the perfect everything: mother, wife and lover. The German title roughly translates as both “Lap Prayers” or “Womb Prayers.” Constantin’s Oliver Berben will produce.

Michael Bay And The Rock, An Explosion Of Awesomeness?

The only reason there hasn’t been a Michael Bay movie starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is because if such a thing did exist, the entire production would probably explode due to awesomeness (well, that and ego; mostly ego). However, it looks like the director is going to test those limits with his next film.  According to reports, Bay has been courting Johnson and Mark Wahlberg to star in his upcoming movie, “Pain and Gain,” which is based on a 1999 article in the Miami New Times about a pair of bodybuilders caught in an extortion and kidnapping scheme. The film, which reportedly has an un-Bay-like budget of $20 million, was written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

Project Updates
That New Project For Justin Lin’s Protege Just Got A New Writer

Daniel Casey has been tapped to write the untitled sci-fi crime thriller project being directed by Bobby Glickert, a former assistant to “Fast Five” helmer Justin Lin and a burgeoning filmmaker. Universal picked up the untitled sci-fi crime project in June as a pitch, with an outline written by Glickert for him to direct. Details are being kept secret, but the project has been described as being in the vein of the Michael Mann crime thriller “Heat” and the Jason Bourne spy-action movies.

The Next “Star Trek” Flick Will Have Some Robocop In It

Peter Weller, the veteran actor who played the title role in the 1987 “Robocop,” has joined J.J. Abrams’ next “Star Trek” movie, it has been confirmed. Details about Weller’s character aren’t being revealed quite yet, but Weller has “Star Trek” experience, having played John Frederick Paxton on two episodes of “Star Trek: Enterprise” in 2005.

“1000 A.E.” Tries To Round Out Its Cast

Zoe Kravitz and Sophie Okonedo are in early talks to join Will Smith and Jaden Smith in “1000 A.E.” M. Night Shyamalan is directing Columbia’s sci-fi action adventure, in which humans no longer live on Earth after it becomes inhospitable. The elder Smith is playing a hero, while Jaden is his son, considered a failure as a warrior. When the two crash-land on Earth, it is up to the son to save the dad. If deals are made, Kravitz would play Smith’s daughter, while Okonedo will portray his wife. Gary Whitta, Shyamalan and Stephen Gaghan worked on the script.

Sara Rue’s Getting Into Bed With The CW

The CW is continuing its comedy push with a Sara Rue vehicle. The actress has landed a script deal for multi-camera comedy “Poseurs.” The project centers on Lucy (Rue), a young woman whose life is upended when her fiancee moves out and her fresh-from-rehab collegiate best friend Alexandra moves in. In order to maintain her swanky New York co-op, which doesn’t technically allow for roommates, Lucy and Alex enter into a muturally beneficial domestic partnership — complete with all of the challenges and few of the perks. Rue will pen the half-hour project, set up at Warner Brothers Television. She will also serve as a co-executive producer alongside long-time manager and producer Alan David.

Website to Watch
http://www.spurn-nyc.com/

Yes, we featured this a few weeks ago, but it bears repeating. This sketch group is one of the great undiscovered pleasures in the New York comedy scene, operating under the radar as some other, lesser talented bunches get TV deals and regular gigs at places like the Upright Citizens Brigade and Peoples Improve Theater. But you're in luck, as you have ample opportunity between now and Christmas to discover them for yourself. The spurn 10th Anniversary Show, an absolutely hilarious hour-long bit of brilliance, is in the middle of its seven-week run and continues to pack the PIT's main theater. With three shows left (this Thursday, then again on the 15th and 22nd), you really have no excuse not to catch it. Do yourself a favor and head down to east 24th street to see it, and prepare for one of the funnier hours you'll have all year.
