Want to Write for the Twitter Movie?

Scripped.com wants you to write for a movie about Twitter, an examination of how the micro-blogging site has made an impact in the real world.

This will be an anthology film, much like "Paris, je t'aime" or "Thirty Two Short Films About Glenn Gould". We are looking for eight solid scripts centering around specific topics upon which Twitter has had a large impact. We are not asking for documentary scripts like the Ken Burns version of the Twitter movie (can you imagine?), but instead we want more realistic-fiction based around actual events. You are welcome to write fictional characters to drive the narrative of the events (รก la Leo and Kate in "Titanic"). There are only three requirements:

1.Your script must be between 8 and 10 pages
2.Use one of the broad topics listed below for inspiration -- though we're open to other topics
3.Your script must be based on verifiable facts (or tweets) - we don't want fiction here.
Here are eight topics to get you thinking (with some relevant examples in each):

• Politics & Elections (2009 Iranian elections)
• Sports & Celebrity (LeBron & The Decision; or Conan O’Brien)
• Corporate PR (BP Oil Spill and @BPGlobalPR)
• News & Media (The Future of News & Twitter)
• Philanthropy & Causes (The Case of @CharityWater)
• Cultural Resistance (Nobel Laureate Lui Xiaobo & Twitter in China)
• Disaster Notification (The 2008 Mumbai Attacks & Haiti Earthquake)
• Twitter Sensations (How @shitmydadsays became a TV show)

Remember to pick a topic with which you are comfortable. The winning script will most certainly incorporate real facts about the topic. Judges will pick eight winners (each covering a different). Each winning writer will receive $200 (and potentially more if the film is produced).

There is no entry fee for Scripped Pro subscribers (non-Pro entry fee is $10).

Deadline to submit is January 2, 2011.

Just to be clear, we're not looking to make the Twitter version of "The Social Network", somebody already did that and it's really funny.
