Notes: The script “AREA BOYZ” is written in English, but with an initial African (Cameroonian) setting in mind, I included a few lines in the English-like “Pidgin English”, a lingua franca spoken by most people in the English speaking regions of Cameroon and also other African countries like Nigeria, Sierra Leona etc. Pidgin English is very similar to that spoken by Jamaicans. The script is open for edition as necessary, and the movie can be shot anywhere in the world. It is designed for low-cost production.

LOGLINE: His new neighborhood being hell on earth, a place where crime is the order of the day, and where almost all the male and some female teenagers belonging to different dangerous gangs, have used a gun at least once to rob or kill people, McCoy has to find a fierce and complicated equilibrium between his own survival, that of his family and haunting memories of his past trigger-happy gangster life. This neighborhood and town have got everything bad: murder, rape, drugs, guns everywhere, corrupt policemen, burglary etc.

SYNOPSIS: A story about gang violence. Moving to his hometown with family after his mother’s retirement, McCoy -– a recovering highschool student trying to repent and score out memories of his past violent gang life, gets assaulted –- while on a one-off gambling game to raise money to help him process documentation for his sweepstakes-won taxi -– by the trouble-pushing brother of this particularly dangerous local gang leader; Pharaoh, who employs teenagers and hires guns for them to rob and kill for him. From this gambling table one thing leads to another, and from when his taxi gets burned down, his sister raped and his family heartlessly harmed, it becomes inevitable for him to go back to his old ways and bring in his former syndicate “the Red Square” to get his revenge . . a continuous series of bloody alternating suicidal exchanges with these mobsters, losing some of his family members, his freedom and schooling in the process which finally results in wiping out the whole local gang–-the “Area boyz”--and cleansing the neighborhood of all its robbery, murder and intimidation.

If I can make a suggestion, the logline should be one or two sentences, max.

It should include the major goal of the protagonist and who or what stands in his way.

Hope that helps.
