MGM has set Noah Oppenheim to script its planned remake of the 1980s Cold War classic War Games.
Horrible Bosses helmer Seth Gordon is attached to direct the film, one of several remakes in the works at the troubled MGM studio (Robocop, Carrie).
The original 1983 thriller starred a pre-Ferris Bueller's Day Off Matthew Broderick and Ally Sheedy in a tale of a kid who thinks he's playing a computer game but nearly starts World War III. Presumably the technology in the new War Games will be state-of-the-art and incorporate the sophistication of modern video games.
Oppenheim is a former Today show producer whose Jackie O script generated heat in Hollywood. He is repped by CAA and Management 360.
