Scots screenwriter Paul Laverty reveals latest film about Bolivian water riots

“The story deals with the arrival of Columbus and the first conquerors, and then deals with the urban warfare as the population rose up in the Bolivian city of Cochabamba when their water was being stolen.

“It was a very tough shoot, especially when the crew had to go to the Bolivian jungle.

“They are just amazing. The bravery of these people, and how well organised they were - all they had was sticks and stones up against a modern army – is what really strikes me.”
