Warner Bros. Nabs The Rights To Seth Grahame-Smith’s “Unholy Night” Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to “Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter” author Seth Grahame-Smith’s new book “Unholy Night” for approximately $2 million. Grahame-Smith will write the script. “Unholy Night” retells the birth of Jesus as an adventure story centered on the three kings in the nativity story who travel to Bethlehem to witness his birth. In Grahame-Smith’s version, the three kings are thieves on the run who are forced to help Mary and Jesus escape to Egypt. Alice Eve OFFICIALLY Joins J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek” Sequel Alice Eve has been cast in J.J. Abrams’ 3D “Star Trek” sequel, TheWrap has confirmed. Cruise was reportedly not the first choice for the studio, who originally wanted Brad Pitt to star. Drafthouse Films Takes The US Rights To “Electric Boogaloo” Alamo Drafthouse Cinema’s distribution arm Drafthouse Films announced Thursday, Dec. 1 that it had acquired the U.S. rights to the upcoming documentary “Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films.” The film, which will be helmed by Mark Hartley, follows Israeli-born cousins Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus, who launched Cannon Films, an indie film studio in 1979 that went on to make over 120 exploitation films, between 1979 and 1989, dubbing itself the “seventh Hollywood major.” http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/electric-boogaloo-drafthouse-films-texas-chainsaw-massacre-268389 Business/Legal News
“Cowboys & Aliens” Gets Tangled In A Copyright Lawsuit Given the reception that the Jon Favreau film “Cowboys & Aliens” received, one would think that people would be reluctant to take credit for inspiring it.
